If you are looking for something original to give as a wedding, christening or birthday this is ideal. All the guests can sign it creating a beautiful memory of that special occasion. Just follow these simple steps.

1.      Choose a piece of bisque such as a plate or large serving dish, paint on your design and message and we will fire it exactly the same way as described for glaze on the ‘pottery’ page. As a rough guide a dinner plate can hold approximately 30 signatures, a serving dish 70 and a platter 110. We also accept commissions and can paint the item for you.

2.      On collection purchase a special black marker pen with instructions at a cost of £3.50. These work like normal felt tip pens allowing you to easily write on top of the glaze. If you are expecting more than 70 signatures we recommend an additional pen. The ink will remain slightly wet for approximately 30 seconds so can be quickly wiped off if a mistake is made. Allow a little time before the next person adds their message to prevent smudging.

3.      When completed leave for 24 hours before placing in a cold oven. Turn oven on and once it reaches 150°C (300°F) bake for 35 minutes. Turn off and allow the oven to cool. This gives the writing a real enamelled look that can be washed.
