Decide on acrylic or
glaze and select the item of bisque you want to paint.
-
Clean your piece with
a moist sponge to remove any dust.
-
Think of a design, you can draw outlines
lightly in pencil first. If you are glazing these will
disappear when fired, the acrylic paints are opaque enough to
cover them.
-
We will show you the paints to use. Select
your first colour, give the bottle a shake and squeeze some
onto your palette. They dry quickly so pour a little and keep
refreshing, this keeps it runny and easy to apply.
-
You can use a brush, sponge or foam
stencils to create different effects and patterns.
-
Glaze The paints for glazing do not look as
vibrant as the 40 square colour samples, however once glazed
and fired they will be. For an opaque colour apply two or
three coats, using only one gives a translucent effect. When
you are finished we dip and fired your item. This takes a few
days and we will phone when ready for collection. If you need
it for a certain date please let us know before painting.
-
Acrylic The 95 round colour samples on the
wall show off these vibrant, quick dry paints, which can be
varnished to give your item a professional finish ready to
take home immediately.
Eventually all earthenware pottery develops
very thin lines in the glaze, called crazing, this is perfectly
normal.
